New Temporary Condo

We had to move to a different temporary place to spend the remaining 5 weeks until our house is done. We are staying in a condo in the heart of the city and we are loving it! It reminds me of our apartment in California where we could walk everywhere. We can walk to all sorts of shopping and dining spots and even more importantly, we are only a block away from the most amazing park in all of Portland - we go there everyday. It has a wonderful play area where Amelia goes nutso over the sand, swings and slides, it houses the Oregon Zoo and a great Children's Museum - all of which Amelia LOVES. So we are rarely bored and always have plenty to do (that is, if I can get Amelia to put some clothes on and go outside!! It's the biggest struggle of my day - she wants to be naked ALL the time!)

Looking at the sea otters at the Zoo - she kept saying "whoa!"

Playing in the sand - she was in heaven!

Amelia loves this big swing

Fell asleep on a morning walk downtown
Teeter-totter with mom - I liked it more than she did!

Playing the water fountain at the park - we hoped the water wasn't too nasty...
There are no baths in our new place so we had to improvise - Amelia doesn't seem to mind

Dogs, Bugs and Water

These are Amelia's favorite things: dogs, bugs and water. Whenever we go to the playground she only wants to find dogs, bugs, birds, puddles, rocks, and drinking fountains. Who cares about the play structure?! So whenever we go on a walk, we are constantly on the lookout for these things.

Amelia ran away from us after church to go find bugs

She wasn't happy when we made her leave church (go figure :)

When it's raining outside and we stay indoors most of the day, Amelia will take up to 3 baths. She loves to play with the running water and gets mad when I turn the faucet off. She tries to throw a fit in the tub, but soon realizes it doesn't work too well to lay down and roll around in the tub. The girl LOVES water!

Amelia's favorite movies are Lady and the Tramp and The Little Mermaid. Her favorite TV shows are SuperWhy and Barney. The other morning the first word out of her mouth was "Barney" and when I said it wasn't on TV yet, she burst out crying. She quickly snapped out of it when I said she could watch "Mermaid." Now "Mermaid" is the first thing she says in the morning (actually 2nd - the first thing is "baba. want it. yeah? K.")

Making Pizza Dough

Amelia had a blast helping me make pizza dough last night. She would say "more sugar?" as she put in another spoonful of flour, then "more water?" and finally "stir it?" It was so fun. She was on the counter for over 30 minutes making her own special "bread" that was more like a mass of glue :) She put a spoonful of "sugar" in her mouth and soon realized it wasn't sugar (yes, I've let her taste a spoonful of sugar).

Feeding the Baby Goats

Amelia got to feed the baby goats their bottles today at the farm. She did such a great job and LOVED it! She got a little jealous at one point and wanted to drink the bottles herself.

The Little Mermaid

Amelia LOVES watching The Little Mermaid sing "Part of that World." Her face lights up the moment I turn it on - she's even started to sing some of the words. And she loves wearing her hat indoors, but she'll never wear it outside when she really needs it.

She also doesn't like to wear clothes - whenever I try to put clothes on her she says "naked?, naked?" because she wants to be naked. But if I leave her in just her diaper, she takes it off to really get naked and runs away squealing with delight (and often pees on the carpet).

Looking Pregnant

My pregnant belly really popped-out over these past 2 weeks. It's nice to actually look pregnant instead of just looking fat :) We had fun last weekend at the Rose Festival and Farmers Market in downtown Portland. Amelia loves to see the boats and play in the water fountain.

The Many Faces of Amelia

Amelia's silly personality is really starting to come through. She loves to make faces and dance wildly to music (she's often naked so we call it her "naked dance").

Heat Wave

A couple of weeks ago we had a break in the rain for some unusual 90 degree weather. Amelia and I spent every moment of it playing outside and swimming in the pool. I was glad Amelia got to wear some of her summer clothes before she outgrew them!

About Me

My photo
Angie moved to Palo Alto, CA in 2001 to get her Masters degree in Chemistry at Stanford. Matt got his MBA at BYU and started a job at The GAP in San Fransisco in 2002. We met in the Stanford singles ward and were married in the SLC Temple in 2003. Our little Amelia was born prematurely in August 2006 weighing 1lb 15oz. She is still small for her age, but perfectly healthy. Baby Chase was born 7 weeks early in September, but is now home and growing like a...baby. Matt took a job at Nike in Portland, OR in April 2008 so here we are.
