Yummy Cherries

Amelia is loving cherries - we have them as a snack almost every afternoon - but it only takes a few minutes to go from slightly messy to full-on covered in cherry juice. I got the most amazing video clip of her reaction when she sees her messy face, but it's too big of a file to post. bummer.

Fun Pictures

I just wanted to post some pictures from the last couple of weeks.

Amelia is very good at eating her vegetables - she LOVES tomatoes

Playing at the mall - she's learning how to climb. It has taken a while since her legs are so short.

Coloring in her boots :)

Making faces at the camera - I promise she wasnt' mad

Amelia wants to wear her boots everywhere, but they are hard for her to walk in and she falls all the time so I hid them in the closet. It didn't take her long to find them.

Playing at Jamison Square - she LOVES the water!

Mouth full of water in the bath. She'll put water in her mouth and hold it for the longest time.

Funny (?) Story

Amelia pulled a fast one on me today. We have been living on the 7th floor of a condo complex so we take the elevator daily (Amelia calls it the "alligator"). Anyway, we had just returned from a walk and got off the elevator when Amelia quickly turned around and ran back in - the doors immediately closed. I frantically pushed the buttons hoping the doors would open, but no luck. I heard Amelia's whimpering get fainter as the elevator went down. It felt like an eternity for the elevator to come back up, and when it finally did, it was empty!! Amelia had gotten off the elevator! But WHERE??!! I went to the most logical floor - the Lobby - and hoped she was there and still safe. I was in a total panic going down those long 7 floors, but when the doors opened, Amelia was laying on the floor crying. She immediately got up and clung to me - both of our hearts racing. I comforted her and told her she couldn't go on the elevator without mommy - she looked at me and said "mad?" Of course I wasn't mad, but I was scared half to death. Luckily it turned out OK and let's just say I'm much more careful when we use the elevator :)

4th of July

On the 4th of July we went to a berry-picking farm to get some berries and enjoy the festivities. There was a big slide that Amelia tolerated but didn't necessarily like She did like the animals in the barn and digging in the dirt.

We also went to the Oregon Coast. It was pouring rain and we weren't very prepared, so we only spent a few minutes on the actual beach. But we had lunch in downtown Cannon Beach and enjoyed the beautiful drive and fresh berry stands along the way.

Evening with Alli and Loran

We had dinner with Alli and Loran the night before they moved back to Utah. After dinner, we took a walk along a canal that leads to Lake Oswego. Loran and Amelia had fun throwing pinecones at the ducks and Alli and Amelia loved doing somersaults on the grass.

Amelia sweeping. Notice that the handle is up against a bowl of salad that Amelia knocked to the ground 1 second after I took this picture. She had fun sweeping up the lettuce :)

The Bond family walking to the canal

Loran throwing pinecones at the ducks.
I loved seeing little Amelia hold hands and play with her big, burley uncle.

Aunt Alli showing Amelia the ducks. Amelia LOVES Alli. Everytime my phone rings she says "Alli? Alli?" and loves it when we get to visit her. We'll miss her this summer!

Amelia re-loading with pinecones - she calls them "popsicones" a mixture of popsicles and pinecones. And she won't wear a hair clip for more than 30 seconds, so she had to hold her hair out of her face the entire time.

Not a good day to wear white pants - she got quite dirty.

Doing somersaults with Aunt Alli. She was in heaven!

Now it's Alli's turn!
Matt was being silly while putting on Amelia's shoes and Amelia was laughing so hard.

Random Photos

I don't have internet right now, which is REALLY frustrating. For the last month or so, I've had to go to Starbucks to use the internet and that only happens a couple of nights week, so there is much to post. So I thought I'd do one big post of pictures to show you what we've been up to. These are all from June - I'll get into July the next time I get to use the internet :)

Amelia isn't satisfied with just one bottle. So whenever she has a bottle, she says "two, two" because she wants to hold an empty bottle while she drinks the full one. And if she happens to see multiple empty bottles, she wants all of them. It's a riot to watch her try to carry them all!

Amelia loves for us to bounce her in a blanket. The blanket we used the other night was quite static-y. She didn't seem to mind.

I liked this picture of Amelia swinging at the park.

Amelia had a very interesting choice of outfit the other day. She loves wearing her Mermaid swim diapers, but I can't leave them on too long - they don't absorb anything - makes you wonder how much pee is in the toddler pool...

Amelia and I enjoyed a snack in the car after an afternoon of swimming at Jamison Park. I had hoped to get pictures of her actually playing, but she didn't hold still for one second and there was way too much water splashing around.

Getting Dressed with Amelia

Amelia is constantly saying whatever she sees. This morning, Amelia was sitting on my bed watching me get dressed and this was our conversation:

"bra. boobies. shirt. on. baby. tummy. pants. jacket. Melia. shirt. off. (I take her shirt off) NAKED!! (she rolls around in the pillows then pops up when she hears an ambulance siren outside) Amblance ou-side. see it? window? (we go look out the window, but don't hear it anymore) Amblance all gone? (yeah) ni-night? (yeah, ambulance went ni-night) K. Daddy? work? soon? blanket? (Matt had barely left for work, but she is so excited for him to get home so we can bounce her in a blanket - our nightly post-dinner ritual - poor thing has to wait 10 hours for this to happen - I tell her daddy will be home later and that we are going to go to the park). Sand? scoop? slide? (yeah). K."

So that's my Amelia. Constantly thinking and talking and learning new things daily. It is so fun to be her mom and watch her personality come through. She's a lot like me. Quick to get frustrated, wants to do whatever she wants and gets mad when she can't, and likes to be naked :)

Here's a picture of my naked Amelia:

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Amelia loves doing the actions to Itsy Bitsy Spider. Matt got it on tape the other day. Too cute. I wish Amelia had been more presentable - she's in only her diaper and has marker on her face and no hair clip, but who am I kidding, this is how she looks most of the time. Gotta love her!

About Me

My photo
Angie moved to Palo Alto, CA in 2001 to get her Masters degree in Chemistry at Stanford. Matt got his MBA at BYU and started a job at The GAP in San Fransisco in 2002. We met in the Stanford singles ward and were married in the SLC Temple in 2003. Our little Amelia was born prematurely in August 2006 weighing 1lb 15oz. She is still small for her age, but perfectly healthy. Baby Chase was born 7 weeks early in September, but is now home and growing like a...baby. Matt took a job at Nike in Portland, OR in April 2008 so here we are.
