Funny (?) Story

Amelia pulled a fast one on me today. We have been living on the 7th floor of a condo complex so we take the elevator daily (Amelia calls it the "alligator"). Anyway, we had just returned from a walk and got off the elevator when Amelia quickly turned around and ran back in - the doors immediately closed. I frantically pushed the buttons hoping the doors would open, but no luck. I heard Amelia's whimpering get fainter as the elevator went down. It felt like an eternity for the elevator to come back up, and when it finally did, it was empty!! Amelia had gotten off the elevator! But WHERE??!! I went to the most logical floor - the Lobby - and hoped she was there and still safe. I was in a total panic going down those long 7 floors, but when the doors opened, Amelia was laying on the floor crying. She immediately got up and clung to me - both of our hearts racing. I comforted her and told her she couldn't go on the elevator without mommy - she looked at me and said "mad?" Of course I wasn't mad, but I was scared half to death. Luckily it turned out OK and let's just say I'm much more careful when we use the elevator :)

Wow! That was quite the story. As I was reading your post, my heart rate was raising with anticipation. I'm glad she was OK in the end. Good story.
